35 PAIRS OF SPECIAL TRAINS MARKING 373 TRIPS TO MEET PASSENGER DEMAND

GENERAL MANAGER, NORTHERN RAILWAY CONVENES TOP LEVEL MEET TO REVIEW ARRANGEMENTS AHEAD OF “HOLI/PEAK SUMMER RUSH-2016 TODAY
General Manager, Northern Railway Shri A.K.Puthia convened a Meet of senior level officers to review arrangements made by Northern Railway ahead of the Holi Festival and Peak Summer Rush at Northern Railway Headquarters Office, Baroda House, New Delhi today. The Meeting was attended by Shri Ranjanesh Sahai, Sr. Dy. General Manager and Chief Vigilance Officer, Northern Railway, Shri Gyan Prakash, Chief Commercial Manager, Shri Dimpy Garg, Addl. Divisional Railway Manager, Delhi and other senior officers.
Northern Railway had rolled out an elaborate action plan to gear up to meet demands of rail passengers during the upcoming Holi & Summer Rush of 2016. 35 pairs of Holi Special trains including the trains run by other zones on Northern Railway rail section (marking 373 trips) as per requirement on the basis of trend of passenger rush during previous years have been planned. To provide for additional passenger carrying capacity, 60 additional coaches have been provided in various trains which would mark many trips during the period. The Holi special trains planned this year includes Suvidha trains and Express Special trains on high demand and popular destinations viz. Katihar, Darbhanga, Patna, Lucknow, Barauni, Chandigarh, Saharanpur, Allahabad, & Gorakhpur, Pune, Mumbai and other busy routes from National Capital besides addl. regional connectivity viz. Jammu-Pathankot DEMU Specials and Ghaziabad-Aligarh EMU Specials from 1.3.16 to 31.3.16.
Earmarking priority areas during the high demand period, Shri Puthia reviewed matters relating to availability of rakes and their timely placement, additional deployment of RPF personnel, CCTV at stations. Senior railway officers shall be deputed to man the five important railway stations in Delhi Area. Three teams of Vigilance Squads comprising personnel from Vigilance, Commercial and RPF have been constituted to conduct surprise checks on Booking Offices, Reservation Centres, Jan Sadharan Ticket Booking Sewaks and Authorised Travel Agencies etc. Shri Puthia laid emphasis on thrust areas viz. reservation counters for hassle-free services, availability various passenger amenities and on checks to curb malpractices in ticketing segments during the Meet.
