New Delhi: The railways is in the process of conducting an audit of train operations, particularly on the crucial Mughalsarai-Allahabad-Kanpur-Ghaziabad section, to address the problem of late running of passenger services, Rajya Sabha was informed on Friday.
Trains delays have been reported the most on Mughalsarai-Allahabad-Kanpur-Ghaziabad-Delhi sector of Allahabad division which is facing severe capacity constraints with line capacity utilisation standing at 150 per cent, Minister of State for Railways Manoj Sinha said in a written reply.
This sector connects north India with the rest of the country and deals with not only passenger traffic but also freight traffic including coal, petroleum products, raw materials, food grains, fertiliser, steel and export/import oriented container traffic.
