SYSTEM IMPROVEMENT IN ALLOTMENT OF EMERGENCY QUOTA IN TRAINS
Accommodation under Emergency Quota is being provided in various trains over Southern Railway as per laid down procedures. To ensure that this facility is used in a proper manner, guidelines are being issued.
Accordingly, tickets bought through travel agents will not be considered for allotment of accommodation under Emergency Quota.
Moreover, while accommodation is provided for waitlisted passengers under Emergency Quota, holders of waitlisted Tatkal Tickets will be given priority. So far approximately 28,421 berths cutting across all classes of travel have been released to common man confirming their waitlisted tickets. This is in addition to more than 6,800 passengers who approached CCM/Cell in emergency and who were allotted seats from Emergency Quota.
Further the emergency Quota requisition slips should contain the Train No, Date of Journey, From-To, Class, Number of Berths required, PNR No, Name of the Passengers, Address, Mobile Number, and Purpose of the Journey of the Passengers who is travelling.
In addition to the above, Special assistance to the Patients and Senior Citizens have been provided by Chennai Division at Chennai Central and Chennai Egmore Railway Stations for getting Wheel Chair, Battery operated Car, Stretcher etc. and also any special assistance.
In this regard the passengers are requested to register the requirement two days in advance of the journey and confirmation may be given 45 minutes before reaching the railway station.
