Indian Railways’ announces Incentives to encourage Freight Traffic
Secunderabad: Mohd. Jamshed, Member Traffic, Railway Board said that the Railways is open to the genuine needs of the Freight customers, so as to encourage them in opting for Rail Transport of their produce. Towards this, the Railway Ministry has come out with various incentives benefiting the freight customers segment including concession in busy season charges, removal of port congestion charges etc. He was addressing a Freight Customers Meeting convened at Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad today i.e.27th May 2016. Ravindra Gupta, General Manager, S.C.Railway was also present.
Stressing on the need for the Freight Customers to respond positively to the measures taken by Railways to meet their specific needs and concern, Jamshed sought assurance from them to increase their Freight traffic loads by railways. He also expressed the willingness of Railways to seek suggestions from the freight customers so as to remove the bottle necks if any. Elaborating on the fact that Railways have to balance their revenue vis-a-vis expenditure, the Member Traffic expressed confidence that the freight customers too will act responsibly so as to build up a trust worthy relationship.
Freight Customers across various segments of Traffic spoke on the occasion, to put across their view point in increasing Freight Traffic on the Railways and assured that there will be a sizeable rise in the volumes of cargo transported by rail. Organisations which were represented include, Singareni Collieries Company Ltd, Various Cement Companies, Krishnapatnam Port, Food Corporation of India, Civil Supplies Corporations of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, National Thermal Power Corporation, Granite Companies etc, Madhusudhan Rao, Chief Operations Manager, SCR welcomed the Freight Customers.
